Tula and the Whale is an eco conscious brand, creating vibrant accessories whilst keeping the environment in mind.

This small business is run by Kat from her home workshop in South Devon near to the river Dart. Her jewellery is bright and colourful and every piece is designed, cut, painted and finished by hand.

“Crafting is my therapy. Tula and the Whale began after years of creating gifts for my friends and family, and an excuse to release my creativity. When I had my second child, I found returning to work difficult to achieve around the constraints of family life, so I decided to turn my hobby into a business!

All of my jewellery is handmade. The nature of working with leather offcuts means that often my pieces are limited edition and cannot be recreated. But coming up with new designs and colourways keeps me creativity fresh.

I am lucky enough to live in beautiful South Devon, near Totnes, with my family, two cats (Matilda and Gandhi) and one lolloping great deerhound lurcher called Bo. I care a lot about the environment and do my best to make sure my business is as sustainable as possible. I only use leather that has been collected as scrap material from the shoe and fashion industry and my packaging is plastic free and reusable. My workshop is powered by green energy and I use a non toxic leather bond glue. My vegan range uses sustainably grown cork leather from Portugal.
